Tune in Tuesday

This is the first time I have participated in Ginger at GReads Tune in Tuesday. I have seen the different posts this last month and have loved listening to others music. Music can take you back to a moment in time instantly! Sometimes good moments and sometimes bad moments but I absolutely love music no matter what time it takes me back too.

I just recently finished the book ‘Becoming Marie Antoinette’ by Juliet Grey and really enjoyed it. I love historical fiction and was pleasantly surprised by how closely accurate her novel was. I am used to reading more of her reign and her death so it was a nice change to read about her childhood. I feel like Marie Antoinette was a victim of Renassaince paparazzi and she was unjustly portrayed. It seems to me that the author felt the same way. What does this have to do with Tune in Tuesday? It so happens that one of my all time favorite songs Viva La Vida by Coldplay is supposed to be about Louis XVI. I have heard other theories that it is about Napoleon and even Jesus, but I  am going to maintain that it is about Louis XVI until Coldplay tells me otherwise! :) Besides the history in this song, I just think it is a beautiful song and makes me feel bittersweet everytime I hear it.

Enjoy….

Lyrics

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemies eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing:
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt, and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can not explain
once you're gone there was never, never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world
(Ohhh)

It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in.
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People could not believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries Wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?

I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can not explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world
(Ohhhhh Ohhh Ohhh)

Hear Jerusalem bells are ringings
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can not explain
I know Saint Peter will call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
Oooooh Oooooh Oooooh
